2026-01 EU Specialty Food Ingredients appoints new Secretary General

EU Specialty Food Ingredients is delighted to announce the appointment of Caroline Rey as its new Secretary General, effective on 1st January 2026, following the decision by the former Secretary General, Maryse Hervé, to focus on her role of ECCO’s Managing Director and consultant.

Caroline brings more than 15 years of expertise in EU, global regulatory and public affairs, as well as association management. Her career has been mainly built within Brussels‑based European trade associations, in the food additives and alternative proteins sectors. She is widely recognised for her collaborative approach, her in-depth knowledge of EU or Codex Alimentarius intricacies and her strategic insight.

Specialty Food Ingredients play a critical role in the food chain, ensuring food safety, extending shelf life, enhancing nutrition, and promoting sustainable food production. Our sector is thus paramount to the global competitiveness of the EU food industry. Together with the Board, Caroline will drive our association through a pivotal period to support our sector’s innovative efforts, competitiveness as well as its journey towards sustainable food systems.

Saskia Kliphuis, President of EU Specialty Food Ingredients, commented: “With the Board, we thank Maryse Hervé for her outstanding support over the years and look forward to working closely with Caroline to advance our association’s objectives and deliver on our shared priorities”.
