2023-10MEMBERS OF EU SPECIALTY FOOD INGREDIENTS ON A TRAINING VISIT OF THE EUROPEAN INSTITUTIONS

A broad delegation of EU Specialty Food Ingredients members enjoyed a one-day training visit of the European Parliament and of the European Commission in Brussels.

The European Parliament services gave insights on the role of the Parliament in the Union’s democratic life and offered to the group a visit of the hemicycle. Moving to the European Commission, participants heard about the role of the European Commission as the political executive of the EU, before being given an in-depth presentation by a DG Trade representative about the EU’s Trade policy with a focus on general procedures related to SPS & TBT notifications to the World Trade Organization or Market Access. Finally, an officer from DG GROW presented the Directorate’s ongoing programme for the EU food/food ingredient industry.

The day was also a cheerful opportunity for networking around a tasting of the best French fries in Brussels and of Belgian beers!
