2017-03EU Specialty Food Ingredients, player of Commission serious game on future of EU food policy

To identify the critical challenges to the food safety and nutrition framework, their future evolution up to 2050, their impacts on its current structure and the potential critical changes to the current framework necessary to maintain the prevailing high standards: here are the objectives of a foresight analysis of the European Commission. In this framework, EU Specialty Food Ingredients participated in 2015 in a Scenario Exploration System (SES) exercise, which was designed by the Joint Research Centre together with experts in serious games from the Hawaii Research Center for Futures Studies. EU Specialty Food Ingredients was proud to be actively involved in one of these award-winning simulation tools with Commission experts and other key stakeholders of the food chain (a video of this SES is available here). The outcome of this exercise contributed to the development of the Commission’s landmark and recently-published Delivering on EU Food Safety and Nutrition in 2050 – Future challenges and policy preparedness report.
