EU Specialty Food Ingredients welcomes the new infographic published by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations explaining what food additives are and their approval process.

FAO and WHO establish a panel of top experts to assess if a food additive can be consumed safely and, after reviewing all available scientific data, the panel decides whether the additive can be permitted for use.
