EU Specialty Food Ingredients has developed an internal discussion paper on added fibre. As fibre can be used in foods for many purposes such as increasing the fibre content of foods, for its technological properties, or in food reformulation to decrease the amount of energy, fat or added sugars, it can have different regulatory status. Therefore, the discussion paper on added fibre is a great tool which can help members with the interpretation of the relevant legislation applicable to their products.
