Today it’s the First International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste organised by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
It is estimated that around 14% of food produced is lost between harvest and retail globally, putting an unnecessary pressure on the environment. Innovation & technologies are critical to increasing the efficiency of food systems and to reducing food losses and waste.
