2026-04 Joint Industry Statement – The EU Biotech Act II

Nearly 40 European, national, and regional industry organisations —including EU Specialty Food Ingredients— have come together to underline the crucial significance of the Biotech Act II. Their joint position paper emphasises the urgent need for comprehensive and globally ambitious legislation to facilitate biomanufacturing scale-up and market deployment across Europe.

We hope that measures such as the EU Biotech Act Part I, which focuses primarily on health, will stimulate innovation; however, a significant gap remains in transforming innovation into industrial-scale applications throughout all sectors.

Together with the other signatories, EU Specialty Food Ingredients will continue to collaborate in support of a shared vision for Europe’s industrial future, ensuring that biomanufacturing fully contributes to long-term growth and resilience.
