2017-09JRC Annual Conference – EU for facts, Evidence for policy in a post-fact world

The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission organises on 26 September a conference “aiming to produce a set of clear recommendations for successful evidence-informed policy making institutions, processes and individuals”. This stemmed from the observation that “the interaction between science and policy has never been straightforward. But this relationship has been further complicated by the current post-fact debate”. The conference is built around three sessions: Why should we trust science?;  Governing emotions versus numbers; Re-designing policy-making using behavioural and decision science.

At a time where ingredients may be subject to unjustified, non-science-based and denigrating criticism, EU Specialty Food Ingredients looks very much forward to the conference’s outcome. More information about the conference can be find here.
