2021-02RISK ASSESSMENT OF SPECIALTY FOOD INGREDIENTS UNDER THE “TRANSPARENCY REGULATION”

Ahead of the application of the new transparency rules to EFSA safety assessment as from 27th March 2021, EU Specialty Food Ingredients has published to the attention of its Members a booklet that gives an overview of the process applied to the risk assessment of specialty food ingredients. Illustrated with flowcharts, the document focuses on the notification of studies, the confidentiality aspects as well as the public disclosure. This practical tool is meant to supplement from a sector perspective the generic training materials provided by EFSA and the European Commission. The booklet will be updated upon Members’ experience with the new system in place.
