EU Specialty Food Ingredients is pleased to support World Food Safety Day, celebrated today together with the 60^th anniversary of the Codex Alimentarius, FAO/WHO international food standards-setting body.

World Food Safety Day is the perfect occasion to raise awareness about foodborne diseases and to inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks. The specialty food ingredients industry is committed to join forces with all stakeholders in the food value chain and with policy-makers, scientists and consumers to draw attention to the many aspects of food safety.

In line with World Food Safety Day 2023 theme “Food standards save lives”, it is important to stress how available safety standards and current food safety practices guarantee that consumers can safely enjoy high quality foods and drinks. These standards are based on specific scientific risk assessments that make possible sound food safety management and, ultimately, to protect consumer health.
